Art Wednesday: Anna Vasylioglo Artist Talk
January 29, within the Art Wednesday project director Anna Vasilioglo will hold Artist Talk in the space of the IZONE creative community.
Anna Vasylioglo was born in Odessa, Ukraine. She’s got Master degree majoring in Law and English Philology. In 2013 Anna moved to Jakarta, Indonesia where she worked for two years with Nia Dinata and Kiki Febriyanti as a trainee completing the workshop “Filmmaking".
I am interested in cinema as an art form, not an industry. During the past few years I was working on observational documentary movies that also include elements of poetic cinema.
In my work I tend to be experimental and explore themes of human nature, sexuality, gender equality, and the binary of private and public. In creating my movies, I often turn to comedy genre, exaggerating to the point of absurd the traits of the characters and scenes.
Anna is currently working as a director of independent projects. Works of Anna Vasylioglo (former Wasserwoman) were selected for screenings at different film and video art festivals in Indonesia, Denmark, India, China, USA and Ukraine.

Art Wednesday is a series of events by IZOLYATSIA. The project aims to create relaxed atmosphere of communication for creative people. The format of the event is determined by the participants themselves: it can be a presentation, an exhibition, a film show, a performance, a lecture or a discussion.
Art Wednesday was initiated in order to provide space for creative people to present various artistic practice and share information about current researche, ideas and events.
