Russian illegal prison on IZOLYATSIA premises has been operational for 10 years.

On December 15-17, a training in citizen journalism was held in Mariupol. The event was organised by IZOLYATSIA and Deutsche Welle Akademie.

The participants of the training included both professional and non-professional journalists and activists from around Ukraine: Mariupol, Berdiansk, Lviv, Kyiv, Dobropillia, Kharkiv, and Dniprodzerzhynsk. Participants were selected through an open call, preference was given to residents of the near-front area or Anti-terror operation zone and to the forced migrants. We have received 58 applications, 30 of which were accepted to participate in the training.

The majority of participants were the journalists covering subjects connected to the war, Anti-terror operation and situation in Eastern Ukraine, as well as the important events of their cities of residence.

During the training, the participants have acquired skills in gathering, analysing and presenting the information objectively; they have also learned about useful devices and apps for citizen journalism. Moreover, the trainers have presented successful journalist initiatives and discussed the rules of professional ethics, which become of particular importance in times of war.
