Lecture Post-industrial economy of old industrial regions
On April 26, at 7 PM, as part of the Donbas Studies project by IZOLYATSIA and marking the opening of the exhibition Living by Industry, economist Olena Snihova will give a lecture Post-industrial economy of old industrial regions: What we can learn from the European experience.
The lecture will be aimed at defining the main directions of development for the old industrial regions in Ukraine, as the European integration tendencies are intensifying in the country. Typical ways of gaining a status of an ‘old industrial region’ will be explained along with the main features of such regions and their role in the Ukrainian and world economy.
Olena Snihova will examine the experience of the European Union in revitalising the economy of the old industrial regions, with an emphasis on their structural modernisation in the UK and Germany. Based on the European experience, opportunities for post-industrial competitive advantages of the old industrial regions in Ukraine will be outlined.
Olena Snihova was born in 1975 in Donetsk. PhD in economics, associate professor at the Department for business economics, senior research fellow at the Institute for Economics and Forecasting of theNational Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (Kyiv). Author of over 120 scholarly papers on structural transformations and diversification of economy of old industrial regions in Ukraine.
The lecture will take place on the first floor of the IZONE Creative Community at 8 Naberezhno-Luhova Street.
