Good Art: Creativity as Work. How to Integrate People with Intellectual Disabilities into the Workplace

On 3 November, 17:00–18:30 Kyiv time, IZOLYATSIA Foundation invites you to the online meeting “Good Art: Creativity as Work. How to Integrate People with Intellectual Disabilities into the Workplace”. Together with the Good People team, participants will discuss how to create workplaces where people with intellectual disabilities are full members of the team.

The organisation runs Good Art, a creative workshop where creativity becomes a profession. The team will talk about how it all started, the challenges they have faced, how the workshop operates today and where it is heading next.

Programme:

  • a working day from the inside: adapted tasks, visual instructions, mentoring, a comfortable pace and support;
  • difficulties and mistakes the team has been through, and common myths about employing people with intellectual disabilities;
  • a person’s path from the first workshop session to a role in the team;
  • how to talk about creativity as equals, without pity.

Workshop artist Mykola Tymoshenko will also speak about his working day, what helps him work, what can be difficult, and what this work means to him.

Speakers: Yelyzaveta Serik, curator of the Good Art creative workshop for people with intellectual disabilities (Good People), and Good Art workshop artist Mykola Tymoshenko.

The meeting will be useful for heads of cultural institutions, employers, curators and anyone who wants to make their organisation more inclusive.

The meeting is part of CTMP (The Cultural Transformation Movement Project), a four-year initiative of the Trans Europe Halles network. Partners: Brunnenpassage (Austria), VIERNULVIER (Belgium), Zo centro culture contemporanee (Italy) and IZOLYATSIA.
