What is the danger of Roman Lyagin's impunity for Ukraine?
For almost a year, Roman Lyagin, the organizer of the illegal elections of the "DPR" in 2014, has been in the custody of the Ukrainian justice system. During this period, the Court has not held a single hearing. They have been constantly postponed, and despite the importance of Roman Lyagin as a witness to the transformation of Donetsk into the capital of the "DPR", substantive proceedings have not yet taken place. Meanwhile, the process around the creation of an Advisory Council within the framework of the Minsk Contact Group as been fast-tracked, unimpeded by the pandemic or the economic crisis. Up to this point, pressure from civil society has been the only effective way to slow down the process of legitimization of the L/DPR terrorist groups, and Roman Lyagin is implicated in the foundation of these groups.
The next hearing in the case of Roman Lyagin will be held on April 2, 2020 at 11.00 on the premises of the Shevchenkovsky court (Kiev, 31A Degtyarevskaya St.).
