Appeal to the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky on the investigation into the involvement of Russia and pro-Russian separatists in the creation of "L/DPR"
Mr President.
We Ukrainians, those who have suffered as a result of Russian aggression in the east of our country, as well as organizations working with the aftermath of the conflict call upon you to act. It is well known that for decades the state of Israel has sought to hold accountable those involved in the torture, humiliation of human dignity and extermination of the Jews through the creation of concentration camps during the Nazi Reich. The perpetrators of these injustices have been hunted down in the remotest parts of the world and even in wheelchairs have been brought to court in Israel.
Mr President, much to the chagrin of our country, in 2014 the Russian Federation was involved in the creation of a modern day concentration camp in the center of Donetsk on the territory of IZOLYATSIA, Platform for Cultural Initiatives. The militants who seized the site have created a secret prison in the territory, and have been torturing, raping and degrading the dignity of Ukrainian citizens for 6 years. One of the founders of this concentration camp is Roman Lyagin, who is currently appearing for Ukrainian court proceedings. However, contrary to its mission, the Attorney General’s Office, which is representing the state in the case, refuses to act in the interest of the victims. Instead, the prosecutor’s office has actively helped the defendant avoid any responsibility for serious crimes against the state, including compromising the territorial integrity and inviolability of the Ukrainian state and establishing a terrorist organization.
