IZOLYATSIA Foundation invites you to the online presentation of the book "The Salt of My Earth", a participatory photography project by Oleksandra Klod created with women from the Soledar community.

Register for the presentation

"The Salt of My Earth" is a project about memory, home, and the experience of forced displacement. From January to May 2026, photographer and psychologist Oleksandra Klod, who is originally from Donetsk, conducted a series of photo workshops with women who were forced to leave the Soledar community because of the Russian invasion. The participants worked with disposable film cameras, taking self-portraits and photographing loved ones, places, and objects that evoke home and give a sense of support. For some of the participants, these photographs became a way to restore a connection with their own history — especially for those who lost family archives during evacuation.

The book brings together photographs, autobiographical testimonies, and the participants' reflections on home, displacement, family ties, and life after the loss of home, becoming part of the shared memory of Donbas and Ukraine.

The presentation is held within the capacity-building and networking programme for local cultural actors "Room for Heritage".
