Open call for photographers: portfolio review as part of An Outward Glance: Christopher Makos on Andy Warhol’s Epoch

IZOLYATSIA, in collaboration with Bird in Flight School, invite Ukrainian photographers to participate in the portfolio review as part of the exhibition An Outward Glance: Christopher Makos on Andy Warhol’s Epoch that offers a unique opportunity to show your works and receive a qualified feedback from the acclaimed American photography artist Christopher Makos as well as photographer Paul Solberg and art critic Alina Sandulyak. The best works will be published in the Critique section of Bird in Flight, an online magazine about visual culture.   

The portfolio review will take place on July 22, at 3 PM, at the IZONE Creative Community.

The participants of the portfolio review will be selected by Christopher Makos himself, based on the motivation letters and portfolios. Maximum amount of participants – 20. Duration of personal interviews with each reviewer – 20 minutes. 

To apply for the portfolio review, please fill in the online form, including the motivation letter in English (up to 300 words) with a portfolio attached. The deadline for submissions is July 14, 2017, 11:59 PM (Kyiv time). The selected participants will be informed no later than July 17.

American born Christopher Makos apprenticed with photographer Man Ray. Hecollaborated with many magazines, like InterviewRolling StoneHouse & GardenConnoisseurNew York MagazineEsquireGenre and People. His works have been exhibited at the Tate Modern in London, The Whitney Museum of American Art in New York and The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. His work is in the permanent collections of the Museo Reina Sofia in Madrid, and The National Portrait Gallery, Washington, D.C. Andy Warhol called Makos the "most modern photographer in America".

Paul Solberg is an American photographer contributing regularly to The Wall Street Journal International, CNN Travel, Interview Magazine, Conde Nast Traveler, and New York Daily News. He is mostly known for his still lifes and portraits. Lives and works in New York.

Alina Sandulyak is an art critic and curator of the Bird in Flight Photography School. She studies Ukrainian photography and has contributed to such online magazines as Bird in Flight, Art Ukraine, and Ukrainska Pravda. Culture.
