Artist talk by media artist Juliana Höschlová (Prague)
On November 29, at 7 PM, IZOLYATSIA presents the artist talk by Juliana Höschlová, a media artist based in Prague.
Juliana graduated from the Prague Academy of Fine Arts. She has participated in numerous exhibitions and art projects. Her recent works are based on the criticism of the media and advertising. Repainting, reducing and transforming illustrations and photos of news, she creates huge black-and-white collages. It is the mirror of all media platforms (especially the Internet), where the news of the tragedy coexist with advertising of a new car or clothes. However, for Juliana it is not only a method of dealing with the daily attacks of the media, but also a way to store historically significant moments and events.
Currently, Juliana Höschlová is working on a non-profit project Visit (Návštěva), under which she considers video art in terms of its critical capacity and impulse for cooperation. One of the purposes of Juliana’s visit to Ukraine is establishing contacts with Ukrainian video artists for further screening of their works in the Czech Republic, Hungary, and Taiwan.
Juliana Höschlová is a participant of the residency programme by IZOLYATSIA, held in cooperation with A.I.R. FUTURA (Prague) and with the support of the Czech Centre.
The event will take place at 8 Naberezhno-Luhova Street, Fourth floor. Free entrance.
