The court delivered a verdict to the commandant of the "Izolyatsia" prison.
The Supreme Court of Ukraine upheld the verdict of the court of first instance against Denys Kulykovskyi, the commandant of the Donetsk prison "Izolyatsia".
As the commandant of the prison where Ukrainian civilians and military prisoners of war were illegally held and tortured, Kulykovskyi was found guilty of three crimes: cruel treatment of prisoners, participation in a terrorist organization, and involvement in an illegal armed formation. He was sentenced to 15 years of imprisonment.
We call on the international community to decisively intensify pressure on the Russian Federation to completely stop its crimes and release all those illegally imprisoned, including those held in the "Izolyatsia" prison and other torture facilities and filtration camps. We also insist on expediting the establishment and launch of a Special Tribunal for the crime of aggression against Ukraine in order to hold perpetrators accountable, ensure the inevitability of punishment, and prevent such crimes in the future.
Justice always prevails—even if a thorny path precedes it.
