From July 1 to August 1, 2017, IZOLYATSIA is hosting the USA-based artist Rafael Bustillos in Kyiv as part of its artist-in-residence programme.
Rafael was born and grew up in Mexico and moved to the United States in 1999. For many years, he has worked as a psychotherapist. Rafael graduated from the Master's Programme in Fine Arts at the San Francisco Art Institute (SFAI). In his artistic practice, Rafael uses the "silence language of materials" and the time as creator which influences the surface of objects, changing the texture and structure of works.
Within the framework of his residency at IZOLYATSIA, Rafael is exploring the theme of memory and architecture, and will create a site-specific installation using photos and building materials of destroyed buildings.
On July 31, at 7 PM, the IZONE Creative Community will host Rafael’s informal artist talk where he will show his installation made during the residency.
