Tortured Femininity. Film and Discussion of Gender-based Violence and War in Ukraine

On Saturday, March 14 at 14:30 – 15:30  the Ukrainian Museum in New York will host a screening of a film Tortured Femininity, accompanied by the discussion about gender-based violence and war in Ukraine

The participants of the event include  Olena Chervonik, curator of IZOLYATSIA, Yuriy Sergeev, Parliament Representative of Ukraine to the UN, Martha Kichirowska Kebalo, WFUWO Main Rep to the UN ECOSOC, Dr. Lada Roslycky, Director of Strategic Communications at Ukraine Today, Svitlana Moroz, representative of Ukraine’s women IDPs and POW families.
Recently the Izolyatsia's Donbas studies has launched gender research, slated for completion September 2015. The research will culminate with the publication of original texts and translations by Ukrainian and international researchers, addressing various gender-related questions of the Soviet and post-Soviet culture, such as creation of a "new Soviet man" in the industrial period of the Donbas, and the effects of recent war and violence on women of the region.
