Open call for "HERITAGE. Space for work" residency programme
IZOLYATSIA foundation invites artists to apply for participation in the HERITAGE. Space for work residency programme. The aim of the programme is to create new art projects aimed at shaping a new cultural identity, based on local cultural heritage. The projects will be implemented in cooperation with representatives of the local community and will be based on the intangible heritage of Donetsk region.
The programme includes two residencies, which will take place at the IDP support centres of Kramatorsk district: “MyRazom” in Poltava and “Soledar Road Home” of Soledar MTG in Kamianske, Dnipropetrovsk region.
Residents are expected to participate in the residency in a hybrid format: at least one research and familiarisation visit to the residency location, and a visit for preparation and presentation of the project, with a total offline residency duration of 45 days during the residency period.
Apply to take part in the residency
The programme is open to citizens of Ukraine:
- aged 18 and over, who have a Ukrainian bank account,
- with experience in implementing participatory projects involving local audiences,
- and experience in creating artworks based on local heritage, research, working with memory, etc.
Each participant will receive:
- A fee of UAH 181,763.99 (amount includes taxes, and covers travel to and from the residency, local travel during the residency, meals and accommodation for 45 days)
- Production funds for the project up to UAH 200,000.
- Curatorial support
- Access to the cultural heritage of the host community and Donetsk region
Timeline and selection procedure:
- Application period: 20.10.2025 – 02.11.2025
- Application review: November 2025
- Announcement of results: November 2025
- Residency (hybrid format) with public presentation of results: December 2025 – July 2026
Application submission:
The application form includes information about your artistic practices, a motivation letter explaining your interest in participating in this programme and possible project ideas, as well as a portfolio and CV. Applications with preliminary project proposals will be given priority.
Applications will be selected by representatives of IZOLYATSIA and the host residency communities. All applicants will receive an email with information about the selection results.
Due to the large number of applications, the project team cannot provide individual feedback on decisions, and these decisions will be final.
The project HERITAGE. Space for work is a joint initiative for local cultural actors in Ukraine. It focuses on rethinking cultural heritage and strengthening social cohesion. The programme provides mentoring support and grants to help communities overcome challenges caused by the war and create new cultural products.
The capacity building and networking programme for local cultural actors HERITAGE. Space for work is supported by the “Partnership for a Strong Ukraine” (PFRU) Programme, funded by the governments of the United Kingdom, Estonia, Canada, Norway, Finland, Switzerland, and Sweden. The aim of the Programme is to strengthen Ukraine’s resilience in the face of Russian aggression by providing critical support to local communities in cooperation with Ukrainian state authorities, civil society, media, and the private sector.
