Artist and curator Clemens Poole in residence at IZOLYATSIA
On May 20 – June 16, 2018, the NY-based artist and curator Clemens Poole is a new resident at IZOLYATSIA.
Clemens Poole is an artist and curator who lives and works in New York. Graduate of Cooper Union School of Art, Columbia University and London School of Economics. In 2014, he got an invitation to work on a project at IZOLYATSIA in Donetsk and visited Ukraine for the first time. Ironically, his arrival coincided with the occupation of the institution. During his second visit to IZOLYATSIA, already in Kyiv, he realised a project called ZAHOPLENNYA that dealt with the subject of the occupation of public spaces. Clemens was the author of the #onvacation campaign during the Venice Biennale of Contemporary Art in 2015 and one of the mentors of the international residency Architecture Ukraine. Results of this residency were presented as an official collateral event of the 15th International Architecture Exhibition of Biennale Architettura 2016, La Biennale di Venezia.
On June 13, at 7PM Clemens Poole will give an artist talk at the IZONE Creative Community, vul. Naberezhno-Luhova 8. At the talk, Clemens will provide more information about his new project, Donbas Video Portraits, and his recent journey to the cities of Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
Clemens Poole’s residency at IZOLYATSIA is made possible thanks to the support of the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine.
