FIELD RECORDINGS — FACTORY MACHINES

53050180без номера53050177

Here are a number of Field Recordings made in the Factory Buildings at Izo when the engineers kindly started up some of the old machines for me. They are short but contain all sorts of interesting sounds, please feel free to use them for your own compositions!

FIELD RECORDINGS — INDUSTRIAL PERCUSSION

Here are a few of the many recordings I made exploring the sounds of numerous steel debris and discarded machinery in the grounds of Izo. I will make use of these as percussive samples and general musique métallique, download any you think you might use and email me (or leave a comment) if you want me to send more.

STUDIO RECORDINGS — SOVIET INSTRUMENTS & AUDIO EQUIPMENT

As many of you know we found a whole stash of amazing Soviet era musical instruments and equipment in the incredible Magazine at the Izo Complex, things that had no doubt been used for everything from rock bands to theatrical and folk groups associated with the factories themselves (maybe even leading to some of the material on the tapes above). This provided a perfect opportunity for developing the 1990Now project and a temporary studio was set up to facilitate recording by numerous local musicians in the months leading up to the project. Here are a few recordings I made, again just for use samples in collaging, that give a taste of what the old equipment sounds like. (Many thanks to Vlad and others at Izo for overcoming the considerable technical challenges to this – photos of the studio and gear itself will be posted shortly on their own page!)
