Ukraine is under siege following a full-scale military invasion by Russia on 24 February 2022

On Friday, October 28, at 11 AM, IZOLYATSIA presents the discussion From Business to Culture: Philanthropy in Ukraine, summarising the Sugar Democracy project, closing on October 30.

Speakers:

Anna Gulevska-Chernysh – Executive Director of the Ukrainian Philanthropists Forum
Maryna Saprykina – Executive Director for the Centre for CSR Development
Olha Vieru – Director of the Mystetskyi Arsenal Charitable Foundation
Oleksandr Mykhed – curator, author
Ihor Stepanov – entrepreneur, Founder of Sicore, CEO at STEPANOV Company

The discussion will be moderated by Tetyana Filevska, coordinator of IZOLYATSIA exhibition programme.

As part of the Sugar Democracy project by IZOLYATSIA Irish artists Brendan Jamison and Mark Revels have created an interactive sugar installation at the IZONE Creative Community. The project also included a series of lectures, excursions and panel discussions dealing with the history of the Teacher’s House, Kazimir Malevich’s oeuvre, and the arts patronage in Ukraine. Ukraine is a world-renowned leader in the sugar industry. Historically, the wealthy sugar magnates, like the Tereshchenko dynasty, were among the most active philanthropists engaged in charity activities, giving Ukraine numerous buildings, cultural and educational institutions, as well as art collections, now kept in national museums. Speakers will discuss the issues of philanthropy in Ukraine and its perspectives.

The event will be held at 8 Naberezhno-Luhova, Second Floor.
