IZOLYATSIA participates in Docudays UA

29 March 2016 — 29 March 2016

On March 29, at 3 pm, with the support from IZOLYATSIA, the discussion Public space: transformation and ideology shift will take place as part of Docudays UA International human rights documentary film festival.

Despite the ongoing process of decommunisation, Ukrainians are still widely informed by the Soviet ideology of public spaces claiming they don’t belong to all citizens, but are rather “places where authorities meet the people”. Nowadays, given the unavoidable decentralization in Ukraine, it is high time for open discussions on how to use public space. The following experts from various fields will elaborate on the concept of the public space of yesterday and today, accessibility of public spaces for grass-root initiatives and on public art and self-organisation of public space:

Ievgenia Moliar, art historian, curator of Soviet Mosaics in Ukraine project by IZOLYATSIA
Igor Tyschenko, city researcher, CEDOS analytical centre
Leonid Maruschak, curator of the art department at the Ukrainian Crisis Media Centre
Maria Frey, project coordinator in Mariupol, IZOLYATSIA
Alina Yakubenko, artist
Sasha Dolgy, artist

The discussion will be held in the Green hall of the Cinema House (Kyiv, 6 Saksahanskoho Street)
